India has been torn apart by leaders owing to their malpractices and antagonism. If there is one solid and non-corruptible leader in present times, it is our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Perhaps the only one who is non-corruptible. A man of dignity, honor and commitment to the Indian citizens who makes decisions which are making him a hero or zero personally. “Hero” everyone likes to be called a hero. But Mr. Modi also embraces when opposition and people supporting other leaders call him a “Zero”.
What is it really that makes him do this? Is it his relentless pursuit to develop India and its citizens for a bright future?
To find answers I read several books, articles, Supreme Court judgements, opinions of thought leaders, journalists, watched interviews and content online on how he did & what he did for Gujarat amidst so much negativity and perhaps no hope. A leader who had no idea whether he would be there next moment or not, yet he was busy in getting FDI for the state. I think his past acts like these gave the Young India enough confidence to vote for Mr. Modi. They never voted for the party back in 2014. They voted for the leader.
Unfortunately, opposition is always creating controversies around his ideological past because Modi spent almost all his childhood in RSS.
Many Anti-Modi ideologies think of themselves as liberals or believe they are the only guardians of India. Others are called Bhakts or nationalists. One can call these people Pro-India or Pro-Modi rather than Pro-Party.
Young India is evolved not to connect with any ideological fighting and point scoring which leads only to unconsciousness and downtrend. And it is partly why individualistic political figures are increasingly popular with young voters in India today instead of parties. Perhaps, that is why Modi has landslide victories each time. This is only one of the current contradictions as politics itself realigns to new poles of power and absorbs unconventional ideas.
The older ideas of losing parties creating coalitions is intractable reeling in antagonism, ghettoizing themselves. Leaders have yet not developed maturity to restrain themselves from making personal attacks on press events, especially during elections. Hence, coalitions have proved themselves to be disasters leading to unstable governments because of which federal states loose focus and revenue. The governments which should be building strategies for development, are struggling to give results since time is limited and the priorities are wrong.
Hence the hunger now is for Modi.
People want him to lead our nation and make an exceptional come back as the third term Prime Minister of India.
India wants a sweeping change that must threaten every vested party boundaries and enjoy sufficient number of votes to break the mathematics of coalitions.
I would also like to add that he is only remembered for 2006 riots of 2 days, 28th Feb and 1st March. Public overlooks the fact that Indian Army was in the streets of Gujarat on 2nd March itself. No minister, no party has ever responded as swiftly to communal riots as Modi did, where Hindus and Muslims both died.
After 1947 it was expected that there would be a relook at the colonel era systems and its laws. Instead nothing was done. They all secretly wanted to be in Free India and enjoy its fruits by using the same laws and system created by British colonizers to exploit Indians.
In my personal opinion I think he solved many pending issues and also started small things like Swachh Bharat. Here are some of his initiatives and bills we are aware of, but I have consolidated them as they have created history and we would be grateful for these in coming times.
Swachh Bharat Mission
As simple as it sounds, the Swachh Bharat mission has given Indians a pride in its clean surroundings. As an example, when you visit a public toilet in Lodi Garden, there is now a feedback system – you can visit and give feedback on toilets’ cleanliness.
Cleaning and waste management were major issues plaguing both cities and villages across India. Hence the government started minivans which go around collecting dry/ wet garbage from door to door. Along with Swacch Bharath, India launched the ‘open defecation free’ mission and intensified the construction of toilets in each household. The government publicized the importance of sanitation and raised funds for construction of toilets.
36 States with over 5.6 lakh villages, 622 districts have been declared ‘open defecation free’ so far (The Hindu, 2020). It is such a relief to women and children. It gives basic dignity to citizens.
Make in India, FDI, Startup India & Mudra Yojna
Based on the demographic data, start-up sentiment was engulfing India in its glory. However it was not an organized sector. So under Modi’s rule, he launched the Brand “Start Up India, Stand Up India” “Make in India” & “Invest India”.
Around 50,000 plus startups were recognized with 1600 tech start-ups, which helped India to become the world’s third largest tech startup hub in the world (Live Mint 2021). The aim was to turn job seekers into job creators.
FDI inflow (Make in India) from 2014 to 2019 – $286 Bn is 46.94% of the overall FDI received in the country since April 2000 ($592Bn). For the first time India crossed the $60 Bn mark in fY 2017 – 18 with $55.55 Bn in FDI, due to investment friendly policies and opening of FDI allowance in various sectors.
The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana is another initiative of the Modi government. Under Mudra Yojana, small-scale enterprises get 100 per cent funding up to 10 lakhs. 91 % of sanctioned loan amount has already been disbursed to MSE’s (Financial Express 2021) allowing women entrepreneurs to reap maximum benefits.
Healthcare Ayushman Bharat Scheme
The National Health Protection Scheme, also known as Ayushman Bharat, aims to provide an Rs 5 lakh medical insurance cover to 50 crore low-income citizens. It is a medical insurance which provides coverage for medical examination, treatment and consultation fee. Pre-hospitalization expenses are covered under Ayushman Bhrata Yojana policy and post hospitalization for 15 days.
Annually, Rs 10,000 crore is the budget estimate of the scheme. The scheme has already benefited around 1 crore citizens across India in which 50 % beneficiaries are women as well (Economic Times 2021)
Implementation of GST
Implementation of GST, the bill for a single tax all over the country was stuck in Parliament for years. This bill meant now there will be common prices for commodities all over the country, irrespective of changes in the manufacturing and selling regions. It has simplified the logistics and made businesses easy for manufacturers and sellers, and as well as consumers.
Rural electrification gained momentum under the Modi government with a large number of villages getting connected to the electricity grid. While 100% Villages were electrified during the Modi government, the government is currently focusing upon a longer duration of uninterrupted power supply to these villages.
Likewise, the speed of road construction has also increased. The total length of national highways is currently around 1,34,400 km and the aim is to add another 60,000 km in 5 years. Now, 40 km of new roads are constructed each day, which is more than double the number under the previous government (17 km). Several isolated areas in the country have now become accessible.
The Modi government brought a bill implemented as per The Supreme Court order, to end the practice of abandoning wives by simply saying “Talaq” three times . The practice was made unconstitutional.
Neither can the husband bring a second wife home legally. This has empowered women and brought an end to the misery which used be caused by this law to the Muslim women.
To end corruption and black money payments, demonetization was a huge step undertaken by the Modi Government. Everyone who had cash at home, overnight became bankrupt. The whole idea was to ensure people make bank accounts so that they cannot evade income tax. After Nov 2016, 1.01. crore files were added compared to an average of 62 lakhs in the preceding years. (Economic Times 2018 ) Narendra Modi sucked out 86% of the currency in circulation by value in the Indian economy.
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code:
Causing great trouble in Indian credit system, there were overlapping laws which dealt with financial failures and insolvency of companies and individuals in India. The legislation served like the silver bullet to tackle India’s chronic problem of non-performing assets. Banks have begun to recover debts that had seemingly turned irretrievably bad. “Phone banking” has ground to a halt. This legislation will also promote entrepreneurship, availability of credit, and balance the interests of all the stakeholders.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dan Yojana is to ensure access to financial services, namely, banking/ savings & deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension in an affordable manner. Any individual above 10 years of age can open a bank account and in turn get a Rupay debit card.
This has empowered the women, youth, farmers, and people in rural areas by opening bank accounts for them. Because of it, they are not only earning interest on zero balance accounts but also doing online business across India. This allows account holders to get easy access to pension and other insurance products and also get direct transfer from any other government schemes.
Atma Nirbhar Bharat
Atmanirbhar Bharat, Self-reliant India is a term given by PM Modi to economic development in the country during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Packages worth ₹29.87 lakhcrore (US $420 billion) were announced by the government. The package announced things such as changing the definition of MSMEs, boosting scope for private participation in numerous sectors, increasing FDI in the defense sector; and enhancing the solar power sector. An extension of this slogan is ‘local for global’. The slogan has also been extended to sectors such as the toy sector, “time to be vocal for local toys”.
This is encouraging young India to create brands as the market is feeling obliged to promote India made products. People are taking risk as the demand is increasing globally with an increased emphasis on quality.
Jal Shakti Mantralaya
The National Water Mission was launched by PM Narendra Modi under the National Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC) to tackle the threats of global warming. India has 18% of the world’s population which has access to only 4% of the usable water sources. This was formed by merging of two ministries; Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. The Mission will take into account the provisions of the National Water Policy and develop a framework to optimize water use by increasing water use efficiency by 20% through regulatory mechanisms with differential entitlements and pricing. Incentive structures will be designed to promote water-neutral or water- positive technologies, recharging of underground water sources and adoption of large scale irrigation programmes which rely on sprinklers, drip irrigation and ridge, and furrow irrigation.
Jal Shakti Mantralaya primarily will construct dams, look into rejuvenation of ponds, establish community water centers. All of this is to conserve water and minimize wastage and ensure equitable distribution of water.
Supersession of Article 370 has brought a legal end to the ambiguous dispute of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The number of terrorist incidents in J&K are disappearing; as on 15th March, in 2019, 2020 & 2021 it is 594, 244 and 21 respectively with no civilians killed (India Today 2021 ).
So the question is what the link between Article 370 and terrorism is? You will get an answer yourself.
Citizen Amendment Bill
CAA offers citizenship for persecuted minority groups in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The six minority groups that have been specifically identified are Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians and Parsis. Muslims are not minorities in those countries. It was blown out of proportion on the religious ground. CAA is applicable for illegal migrants residing in India and does not apply to any Indian citizen at all.
The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, seeks to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities. allow farmers to sell their produce outside APMC ( Agriculture Produce Market Committees ) ‘mandis’ to whoever they want, there will be no tax on such trade which will give a higher price to the farmers. Through these reforms, a farmer can connect with big traders and exporters to make his farming profitable, this will always lead to more investments and perhaps the APMC will buy from those who used to be left because of their size or reach. The Farmer Protests at the moment are mainly led by APMC leaders who are threatened by the power they will lose over exploiting farmers.
All I want to say is that whenever there is invention there is fear of stepping out of comfort zone as survival instinct does not allow them to accept change and ambiguity which comes with it. Apprehensions are galore so are the solutions. Let’s hope that as a “Krishi Pradhan Sabhyata” we prove this to the opposing citizens/ farmers that this decision is right in the long term.
When Cycle was invented, people protested saying this tool would encourage people to be anti-social, people will not say hello to each other while they ride a cycle and would increase isolation. People will forget how to walk and become lazy.
Do you see any of that happening due to the cycle ? Then ? Farmers Bill Protest sounds the same to me.
*Red Bull Spotlight, a hunt for India’s next rap superstar, is out now.*
Stream free on MX Player
Red Bull Spotlight, a nationwide hunt to discover and support India’s best emerging rappers, returned in early 2020 with qualifiers held across the country. Following a series of rounds, eight rappers emerged as finalists, who now feature in a six-part series and go head-to-head for the title.
Through the course of the series – which features Delhi-based duo Seedhe Maut as masters of ceremony – the eight finalists spend time learning from the best in the business, brushing up their skills and participating in challenges, and then compete for the title in the grand finale.
Produced by Red Bull Media House and MX Player with Supari Studios and directed by Nisha Vasudevan, episodes one to five see the contestants working with mentors Brodha V, Naezy, Dopeadelicz, Sofia Ashraf, Sez on the Beat, Dee MC, D’evil and MC Kode, on everything from freestyle rap and studio production to storytelling and stage presence. Through the course of each episode, the young rappers meet the mentors, discuss their process, participate in workshops, and then go up against each other in a challenge to test their skills. With no eliminations, the winner of each challenge receives some extra one-on-one time with the mentors.
Says Nisha Vasudevan, director of the series, “I’ve had the pleasure of working on content with the hip-hop scene on quite a few properties over the past few years, and to be able to create a web-series of this scale for the community was a total delight. With Red Bull Spotlight we really wanted to keep focus on camaraderie and growth over anything else. The intention was to create something that’s authentic to the scene and reflects its values and its people. Red Bull Spotlight is about creating opportunities for the talent in India and growing the Indian hip-hop scene, and I’m really glad I was chosen to be a part of it.”
In the series and show finale, produced by Frizzon Productions, the eight contestants go head-to-head on stage, using everything they’ve learnt to impress the judges – DIVINE, Emiway Bantai, Naezy and Dee MC – and walk away with the title. The winner will now receive the opportunity to record a full-length album, a music video, support to plan its release, and more.

The first 28 days after birth (neonatal period) is the most crucial period for the newborn as a large number of deaths occur during this period mainly due to prematurity, infections, hypothermia, congenital abnormalities ,low birth weight & SIDS(sudden infant death syndrome). The important thing , however, is that these deaths are to a large extent preventable.
26 lakh newborns die worldwide every year. Of this,6.4 lakh deaths occur in India .At present India ranks 31 worst out of 184 counties of the world .
VASTRR is a not for profit organization which focuses on preventing neonatal mortality due to inadequate & unhygienic clothing of the newborn by educating & creating awareness amongst the expectant mothers, newly delivered mothers & adolescent girls in Government hospitals, Anganwadis, villages & urban slums about infections, hypothermia ,low birth weight babies & SIDS.We also educate the mothers holistically about breastfeeding & it’s proper technique, swaddling,Kangaroo Mother Care , Hand hygiene & care of the newborn. As part of the our mission we distribute a newborn baby package consisting of a baby dress, cloth reusable diaper, cap, baby blanket, baby sheet, soap & hand sanitizer to the newly delivered mothers in Government hospitals. Presently we are educating the newly delivered mothers & expectant mothers at 9 govt hospitals in Delhi, Noida & Gurugram .
We have so far educated 13000+ mothers in various govt hospitals & distributed about 3500+ newborn baby packages.
We have organised camps in various hospitals & slum areas in Delhi .
We have also successfully educated about 5000+ women in nukkad gatherings in Orissa during a 13 day event.
Our whole effort is towards lowering the Neonatal Mortality Rate(NMR) which is the absolute need of the hour.
About the NGO :
The NGO was officially founded on 14 Nov 2018 which coincidentally happens to be Children’s Day as well( though we have been working on the prevention of neonatal mortality since March 2018) by Lt Col (Dr) Parminder Kaur ,an Ex army doctor. Presently we are working in the region in & around Delhi, but the final aim would be to expand the mission to the neighbouring state where the NMR is very high so that we are able to achieve a target NMR set by UNICEF of 12 neonatal deaths per 1000 lives births by the year 2030.This is the only NGO in India working EXCLUSIVELY for prevention of neonatal mortality ( other NGOs are working in conjunction to prevent Maternal Mortality &/ or Infant mortality)
1) NGO VASTRR received the award for” Special Contribution”from Konark International Cyclothon Orissa for creating awareness regarding neonatal mortality in a 13 days cycling cum awareness event in 10 districts of Orissa in Dec 2018. 2) NGO VASTRR was showcased on NDTV under the flagship of Shri Amitabh Bachchan in Banega Swasth India Campaign in Oct 2019. 3) NGO VASTRR was conferred the’ Best Healthcare NGO of the year’ award in the Six Sigma Healthcare Awards by CDS( then Army Chief) General Bipin Rawat in Dec 2019. 4) The founder has received the’Women’s Excellence Achievement Award India 2020 ‘by WEAA India , Jaipur. 5) NGO VASTRR has been listed in INDIA BOOK OF RECORDS 2020 for its efforts in prevention of neonatal mortality . 6) The founder has received the “Woman of Substance Award“ from The Society of Menstrual Disorder & Hygiene Management in Mar 2021

Asian Paints announces first-of-its-kind affordable paint taking consumers closer to creating their dream homes
In small towns, the house is a marker of prestige for families and plays an important role in their life when it comes to social status and recognition. However, budget plays a big hindrance for customers seeking great value when it comes to beautifying their homes without compromising on quality. Keeping this in mind, Asian Paints has launched a unique and pocket friendly paint that offers rich looking finish at an affordable price – Tractor Sparc Emulsion for interior walls.
Consumers looking to redecorate their homes often settle for a paint with either distemper or local emulsion as they fall within their budget. But these paints while they are priced low, do not last long thus forcing the owner to repaint the house regularly which is not just a hassle, but becomes even more expensive for the customer. Asian Paints’ unique Tractor Sparc Emulsion is the solution to such woes as it offers consumers beautiful looking smooth walls as well as durability at an economical price.
The new Tractor Sparc was launched with the intent of giving budget seeking consumers’ access to emulsions which always deliver combination of durability and décor. To give further impetus to consumers to move from distemper to Tractor Sparc upgrades, Asian Paints has launched a new campaign on the theme of ‘budget wala paint.
Speaking about the product and campaign, Amit Syngle, MD & CEO, Asian Paints Limited said, “Asian Paints, being a customer-centric brand, is always looking to innovate and tailor-make products to cater to all segments of customers in order to beautify their dream home. Our brand, Tractor Sparc Emulsion is designed as an affordable emulsion for the value seeking customer to deliver quality products at a reasonable price. This Emulsion not only reduces the price gap but also makes it possible for the customer to transition from distemper to emulsion. Our new TV commercial for the product is themed around ‘Budget wala paint’ proposition to highlight Tractor Sparc as an affordable emulsion which gives customers’ homes a smooth finish and access to decor without the need to compromise on other splurges planned.”
Conceptualized by Ogilvy India, the TVC for Tractor Sparc, portrays a funny story of a boss (Mr. Verma) and his junior (Mr. Sharma) where both boss and his wife happen to visit the junior’s house for a ceremony. They are surprised and jealous to see how the junior has managed to not only afford a newly painted house, but has also managed to spend on a new phone for his son, a new sari for his wife and a new crockery set to serve refreshments to the guests. On enquiry, they get to know that all this has become possible because the junior chose the Budget wala Tractor Sparc Emulsion from Asian Paints.

The finalists of Red Bull Spotlight feature in a new six-part series and go head-to-head for the title
Red Bull Spotlight, a nationwide hunt to discover and support India’s best emerging rappers, returned in early 2020 with qualifiers held across the country. City winners from 15 cities – including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi, and Indore – then went up against each other in a virtual qualifier; and then there were eight.
These eight rappers – representing Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Noida, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad, and Goa – now go head-to-head in a new six-part series, streaming free on MX Player on April 2, at the end of which one will walk away with the title.
In the series, produced by Red Bull Media House and MX Player with Supari Studios and directed by Nisha Vasudevan, the finalists – A-Gan from Chennai, Loud Silence from Bengaluru, MC Headshot from Kolkata, Supermanikk from Chandigarh, Albela from Noida, Rhyming Man from Bhubaneshwar, The Rushi Gosavi from Goa and Siyaahi from Ahmedabad – spend a week under the mentorship of some of the finest in Indian hip-hop, attending workshops and sessions, doing challenges and more. Mentors include Sofia Ashraf, Naezy, Dopeadelicz, Sez on the Beat, and D’evil. The series is hosted by Delhi-based duo Seedhe Maut
At the end of the week, the eight young rappers went up against each other in a finale, produced by Frizzon Productions, and one walked away as the new champion of Red Bull Spotlight. The winner will now receive the opportunity to record a full-length album, a music video, support to plan its release, touring support and more.
Mumbai-based rapper Dee MC, who was a mentor on the show and a judge in the final, says, “It’s amazing to see the next generation bringing their best foot forward. While all of them are full of potential, a select few have the natural nuance of being an emcee. This journey has definitely changed them for the better and I hope they look at this as a steppingstone. A platform like Red Bull Spotlight definitely gives a ray of hope to the younger emcees who are eager to learn from the veterans and showcase their talent. No other show I know has cared this much about teaching and passing on the knowledge to the next generation”.
DIVINE, amongst the country’s biggest names in hip-hop and a fellow judge at the finale, says, “I was pleasantly surprised by the wide-ranging talent in the finale. I think that says a lot about the selection process and also about the quality of talent waiting to be discovered and given a platform in India. Red Bull has been supporting music and culture in many different formats right from before I started as well and up to now. Spotlight is another endeavour in that long line of platforms given by them in helping talent get discovered and work towards building sustainable careers for them”.

International women’s day is just round the corner! This year the focus is on ‘women in leadership: achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world’.
Well! As the world reels under the devastating impacts of the pandemic, let us evaluate how far the countries across the world traversed in creating an equitable world.
‘Closing the gender gap is a long way to go,not less than century…..none of us will see gender parity in our lifetimes, nor it is likely to be for our children’ rued theWorld Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2020. Gender parity, perhaps, has taken a further beating in the pandemic-struck world.
As the world’s over-burdened health system staggers under the pandemic’s devastating impact, the risks of de-prioritisation of thereproductive and sexual rights loom large and such a situation is likely to create ‘a serious and widespread health emergency for girls and young women with long-term consequences’, warned a global NGO’s policy and advocacy advisor. While, worldwide, complications related to pregnancy are the number one killer of girls aged between 15 and 19-years. According to the UNFPA’s latest projections, a lockdown of just six months may result in seven million unintended pregnancies, putting thousands of young lives in peril. Globally still ove r800 women die every day in childbirth, and 20 per cent of them are from India.
While, woman comprise 70% of the global health workforce, who braved out the dangers of exposure and infections even in the present trying times. A joint study on gender and equity in health and social workforces in 104 countries by the WHO and Women in Global Health, revealed that ‘they are concentrated in lower status, pay and often in unpaid roles, and face harsh realities of gender bias and harassment’.The report also pointed out about the ‘systemic workplace discrimination and inequities’. Undoubtedly, such barriers stood in the way of women health workers’ well-being and livelihood opportunities. The WHO advocated for gender-transformative strategies andinvestments to arrest such disturbing trends and asserted that such investments would yield 9:1 returns in terms of large-scale socio-economic and equity impacts. While, in India, about a lakh ASHA workers, 1.3 million Anganwadi workers and another 1.2 million Anganwadi helpers, got down to the pandemic containment drives amid extremely difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, classified as ‘honorary workers’, they have been deniedeventhe minimum wages and their ‘invisible work status’ speaks volumes about how women’s care work is devalued and remain unrecognised.
The rampaging health menace has also cast dark spells on the lives of millions of women and girls. During the long stretches of the lockdown, they became more vulnerable to domestic violence (DV), intimate partner violence (IPV) and other forms of sexual exploitation and physical violence. The lack of access to support services also turned them ‘voiceless’. A US-based research study (NEJM) commented that the ‘stay-at-home orders, intended to protect the public and prevent widespread infection, left many IPV victims trapped with their abusers’. Some, called it ‘intimate terrorism’(NYT), while, another study established a correlation between the adverse economic fall out like rise in unemployment and the enhancement of abusive behaviour at home, as happened in the past crises such asduring the recession in late 2000s, and surmised that ‘men often feel threatened at the loss of status as the household financial provider, and tend to vent out the frustration on their partners as is also happening during the COVID-19 pandemic’. Nevertheless, the instances of DV galore even in countries with high HDI values. In a country like Norway, which tops the HDI ranking in the 2020 HDR report, the prevalence rate of the DV is 27%, while in many other high-ranking countries like Ireland, Iceland, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Netherlands and Denmark, the rate varies between 15% and 32%. While, in India,it is at 29%. In the pre-pandemic world, it was estimated that 35% of women experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or sexual violence by a non-partner(not including sexual harassment) at some point in their lives (UN Women).
The world also presents a bleak picture in terms of women’s workforce participation. Women and girls do the bulk (75%) of unpaid care and domestic work every day, which in other words, amounts to 12 billion hours— three times more than men. The ILO estimated that of all the women outside the formal employment, 41% of them were forced out due to the burden of unpaid care work in 2018, which has now taken a further upward turn. In the United States, parents of children under 18 years of age are experiencing more mental stress during the outbreak, of them, 32% are fathers as compared to 57% of mothers, indicating that mothers bear the burden disproportionately, a recent survey said. It has also further deepened the entrenched inequalities, as more than a third of women workers have been either laid off or furloughed, or received pay cuts during the ongoing crisis, and they are also less likely to have a financial safety net or ahigher pay average. Moreover, in the past epidemics too, women suffered long-term negative impacts, while, men’s incomes returned to previous levels. In India, according to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), in November 2020, the labour force shrunk by 13% for women, but, it was just 2% for men. While, during the same time, 20 million, or 67% of 30 million unemployed men, said they were actively looking for jobs, whereas, only 7.2 million of the 19.6 million unemployed women or 37%, said they were looking for jobs. It is definitely a sad story of women’s retreat from the paid labour force, which was 35 per cent in 2005, and fell to 26 per cent during the present crisis, while, globally, it remains an average of 50 per cent. If we talk about the pay gap, worldwide, women still earn just 77 cents for every dollar earned by men, and thus, comprise 70 per cent of the world’s poor. The world is more than two and a half centuries away from bridging the existing gender pay gap, says the World Economic Forum.
Moreover, the young women and girls, bear the burnt of the pandemic’s indirect impacts. The long spell of the closure of schools has pushed them more intotraditional gender roles and further slimmed their chances of going back to schools. Many distraught parents are even marrying off their minor daughters as a means of bare survival. Many social scientists say that the ‘COVID-19 is causing a serious rollback of girls’ rights’.
While, in the higher echelons of power, women have hardly any presence, being only in twenty two countries either as the heads of state or the government, and have a representation of about twenty five per cent in national parliamentarians across the world. Gender equality in terms of sharing of political power, at this rate, will take another 130 years, said the UNWomen. Yet, women leaders during the pandemic have amply demonstrated a unique style of leadership in deftly tackling the surging menace, be it in restricting the number of deaths or communicating to people directly and earning their confidence with empathy, decisiveness and promptness.
Now, as the UN espouses for turning the twenty-first century into a century of women’s equality, let nations across the world resolve in embarking upon systemic gender-sensitive future work plans and economic revival packages, while, allowing women to sit across the table in decision-making. Lets not make women’s day only a ritualistic affair!

I feel all day is for everyone …not that one particular day for one particular sect. All women should feel everyday is theirs. Girls when given right education they learn what is right and wrong and come out if ever they feel they are being victimised or their freedom is curtailed. Being osho sanyasin…my guru had taught all his followers to respect everyone irrespective of gender. I am proud to be a woman.

International Women’s Day is a day of celebrating social- economic, political success of women in every field of life. I salute my mother who taught me to be brave at the crucial time of uncertainty, while facing different phases of problems. When my husband died in a accident in the year 1995, I have to tackle many ups n down in this man- dominated world. My awareness about the rights of women made me bold enough to face this traumatic world. Imparting education to the girl child is must. Though I belonged to Haryana where at that time girl birth is an abuse but due to my nanaji being a barrister, my mother always tried to make her daughters self-reliant, bold, courageous while imparting education to them. Now a days I am very active n key member of many social organisations only because of my confidence to face this world. So on this day, I recommend every parent to encourage their girl child to be bold, energetic and courageous while getting education. They should teach them more about the myriads of issues that affect women. I am proud that now a days younger women are standing with a stronger voice in this world. Kudos to this International Women’s Day that highlights women’s contribution towards their challenging phenomenons that they are to face in this man dominating world.

* My experience as a dermatologist taught me first hand that skin care is expensive and out of the reach of a vast section of our society in the cities and village. The realisation prompted me to take my expertise and art free of cost to the poor women. * As personal hygiene is integral to looking and feeling good, I reached dermatology to the less endowed with free consultations at my clinic and through getting involved in medical camps in and around Delhi besides Kashmir, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh especially for poor women. * The centrepiece of my work is in the aspirational district of Baramulla. There, a Trust that I run with my mother (who’s also a doctor and my role model who taught me everything in life besides growing me up alone) employs Kashmiri women to manufacture and distribute sanitary pads free of cost and this initiative was sponsored by Ircon. * My mission in Kashmir is to spread awareness about personal hygiene through local women who are the best ambassadors of good looks and good health. It’s my way of healing the scars terrorism has inflicted on Kashmir. I want to restore to the people there the beauty they always had. 2020 worldwide wasn’t an easy year and nor is 2021. Infact normalcy of life will take a year or so more post vaccine and hence followed by economic boost of all sectors for a healthier community. As a doctor I feel the pain and multitask and while celebrating womenhood daily for myself I hope each and everyone out there can make a move and help someone near by to them and make a difference. Let’s heal ourself and our society with the spirit of love and by helping one another. Happy women’s day to every women today and everyday and to every man who can handle !

International Women’s Day (IWD), day (March 8) honouring the achievements of women and promoting women’s rights. A national holiday in numerous countries, it has been sponsored by the United Nations (UN) since 1975. womenInternational Women’s Day is upon as corporations, restaurants, beauty salons, theatres and the media across the world seek to honour the ‘fairer sex,’ celebrating the blossoming of feminism, and the women’s empowerment movement. In India it is no different, and certainly, there is much to cheer for, in the progress that has been made towards greater gender equality via improved opportunities or a more robust and fairer legislative apparatus. Since India’s independence, the country has come a long way in empowering women, and providing a platform for them to have louder voices in society. Across the country, women have improved opportunities to work, while representation of women in the country through powerful platforms like Bollywood or Tollywood has also changed favourably. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to lend his social media reach out to India’s inspirational women on 8 March, 2020 serves to highlight the government’s concerted efforts to level a playing field that has, for centuries, been dominated by deeply rooted partriarchal constructs.

God resides where women is worshipped and respected. Everything flourishes more. We are celebrating Women’s Day this year again with full zeal and energy. This year the theme for women’s Day is “achieving an equal future in covid-19 world.” From being a corona warrior ,media professionals, educator ,professional working from home ,A woman’s contribution to mankind ,nation economy has never been an iota less than that of a man. Year after year we are trying to find the real existence ,true place for women in the society , nation and world. Irony is the same woman has proved her mettle in every domain from being a complete home maker to flying fighter planes she has excelled in all. However we still cant deny the save the children slogans around us, concerns for woman safety, heinous crimes happening every day like Rape , acid attack, domestic violence. The only way to end this all is to change the mind set of people. They should no longer treat woman as a possession or entity .She deserves RESPECT by one and all. For she is the creator of the entire mankind. She is supreme …however all She needs is a true acceptance of her individuality . Her right to live, breathe, voice her opinion, take her decisions and contribute not just in building her home beautifully but building Nation and making this world a better place. Patriarchy roots of the Indian society, often creates mental barrier and doesn’t let woman rise . Many are still deprived of the basic right of Education which is so vital for a women’s independence and her own wellbeing . The count of challenges is on,one more, which women face on a daily basis is lack of support from their family. Women are multi taskers and versatile and hence it is expected from them to excel in every parameter. They are under extreme pressure to ensure home front as priority irrespective of their nature and level of work. For instance, if a woman is launching a satellite at ISRO or working on international project, building homes, preparing University papers, she still has to be diligent at home front. These factors definitely affect emotionally and create a barrier to her career growth opportunity. Undoubtedly, there is an evident progressive change in the outlook towards women with globalization, social connect .Women upliftment and empowerment has a significant rise. Women with their inbuilt qualities of a tender heart, sharp mind, multitasking skills, mental strength, resilient demeanor, stupendous way to multitask and maintain work family balance and acquired leadership training are successfully emerging as strong leaders. There is a genuine need to welcome more women leaders and balance this asymmetric male female workplace ratio especially post Covid scenario . Both men and women have to support each other .We can only develop a society, organization, nation and the whole world with the combination of the strength , skillset, mindset, abilities of both the genders. We have to Respect the men who encourage and believe in upliftment of women. We cannot always abandon them or generalize them as source of suppression for women . In past too Men like Raja Ram Mohan Roy , Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and many reformers have played great role in woman upliftment. Empowerment of women is a necessity for the development of a better world . Men and women need yo work like a great team bringing the best for the overall develoment . Women with their inbuilt qualities of a tender heart, sharp mind, multitasking skills, mental strength, resilient demeanor, stupendous way to multitask and maintain work family balance and acquired leadership training are successfully emerging as strong leaders. In the present global scenario it is required that massive gender disparity should be bridged and both genders should work in sync and synergy to provide more dynamic leaders to the world. Women are a powerhouse of qualities, then why do they face gender disparities?? They have proved their mettle time and time again with immense potential, strength and capabilities Let’s tie the lace and get ready for the race We are still far behind, we have to match up the pace Both the genders are God’s creation Let’s respect the basic orientation Let’s foster their talent, skill and creativity Appreciate individual strength and leadership ability Let’s work in sync to erase gender inequality It’s time to acknowledge their contribution and proficiency as emerging dynamic leaders globally. Happy International Women’s Day 2021 Kirti Mishra Narang

Globally we celebrate international women’s day on 8th March every year to honour the achievement of women in various fields. The celebration gives acknowledgment to those women personalities who have excelled in their different fields.Certainly women have contributed significantly to the welfare of the society and doing so consistently. This is a sign of appreciation. It is necessary for gender equality.Women have proved they are no less then anyone from being on space to flying an aircraft and now we even have girl’s cricket team as well. They are entering into every field and making success.High time we accept gender bias .Respect not because of gender but their own identity. Let us start celebrating the day for equals .The day we stop talking about women empowerment would be actual empowerment. It is important to have equal women in bureaucracy and politics at higher position which will make women empowerment easier.Just as wonderful initative by the government to have mandatory one women director on board in every company such more initiatives of women being at powerful position will help in the overall economy and power of the country .I believe if women are involved equally in all positions the country will progress hugely and our country will become a developed country from a developing country. Women are multi taskers have been proved and can handle any given sithuations and circumstances beautifully better then man.Its important to have women involvement and perspective in every field .They are also known to have strong sixth sense and sometimes major decisions with their perspective in companies get easily resolved. Lets look forward to celebrating day for equals with no gender bias. Let us all move towards it and support, stand ,encourage and empower as many women possible and try achieve it.In the luxury segment i am glad to say i am able to do so and proud to say associated primarily with dynamic women owned businesses be it individuals, companies, brands in art, real estate, weddings and fashion designers, beauty, health ,wellness and also i can already see the change and shift a lot of men their spouses, families are proud of them. It is said behind every successful men stands a woman .They are true role models and inspiration for many to have no bias and society for equals.

8th March every year is celebrated as International Women’s Day all over the world and it is a matter of pride for all women in the society It shows the value of women in all aspects of life. Personally I feel all days in a year should be called women’s day as women are ushering in all walks of life.
They are the best managers of household besides handling multifarious other activities.
Women’s role seems to be the most difficult and productive since they are capable in balancing their life between work, society, home and family. Women are the pillars of strength and have an amazing endurance capacity. Hats off to their creative skills and innovative ideas!
I am a practicing FCA besides an FCS and B.Com(H) and feel elated when I am able to perform my duties both as a professional and a homemaker efficiently. People praise me for my capabilities and this fact gives me additional boost to contribute more and more. We women forget all our tiredness and strive hard to out perform. We are no less than the male counterparts as entrepreneurs and professionals. Nowadays women are holding topmost posts in many companies and institutions. Is this not a matter of pride for the women community as a whole! Women play the most important role in running the family, children upbringing and their education besides managing official work with an astounding capability to work throughout the day with perfect time management and without compromising in anything.
In the past birth of a girl child was considered inauspicious and there were many incidents of new born girls being sacrificed or killed but times are changing now.Even parents are proud of their daughters and treat them not less than their sons.Girls and even married women have the freedom to move around and pursue any stream of education and vocations of their preference. There is no such employment where restrictions are laid on the basis of gender discrimination.
To conclude I would state that women demand respect in all fields of life and this respect should come automatically and not forced. Women are playing their part in all discussions and forums, they are voicing their problems even to the extent of the “ME TOO MOVEMENT”. Nothing can debar them from going ahead and they are there to fight for their rights whenever injustice is done to them.
They have become bolder, smarter and performers. We can find women participating in all walks of life. We have so many women parliamentarians nowadays who are speaking out. We have our Finance Minister, Mrs.Sitharaman who is playing an active role in the government in formulating financial policies which was a far cry in the past.
The above are a few women who outperformed in various fields.
Our many deities are women and are worshipped all over the world.
So women are the ones who keep the world going -without them the world would have come to an end. They serve as mothers of both men and women and no one else can ever substitute them.

What can I say about the women of this country When the name of Radha is taken before Krishna and Sita before Ram. As a proud Indian, where women were always equal centuries ago, that is why we grow up listening to tales of have tales of Maharani Laxmi Bai, Uda Devi, Begun Hazrat Mahal, Jhalkari Bai, Rani Avantibai, Rani Velu Nachiyar, Onake Obavva, Keladi Chenamma etc We should remind ourselves of this on every women’s day and try to inspire women in our house holds to begin with. Most important being imparting them education so they could take charge of their lives and live their full potential . In India, women from the less privileged communities have equal opportunities now. Manya Singh has proved this by getting selected as Miss India runner up title for 2021. I am sure we all are doing and cab a lot of work by educating women around us to be confident about their lives and dream enough… enough so get busy creating more stories for the coming generations on equality!
Wonderful Ongoing Magnificent Energy of Nurturance, well, who is it any guesses??? Of course, all women. Each one of us has some wonderful aspect in us which energies us keeps us going to nurture some aspect or the other in life. Isn’t it beautiful to see how each one of us can contribute to all facets of life be it self- development, profession, family, love, etc, which seems like a fulfilling dream. As woman, we feel completely contended when we (try to) attend to every area of life and uplift it in some way or the other.
Wow! Isn’t it amazing to see that womenare always on toes, trying to play different roles. In one situation, they try to manage their tasks; in the other they are seen uplift their team or family members. Not only this, they protect the team or family and not to forget give due credit to people for their work. If you don’t believe, see any woman around you who is your inspiration, truth will follow by itself. So, the women fit into the role of leadership very well, but the irony is they are hardly given the opportunity.
Well, this is what is the theme: “Women in Leadership: Achieving and Equal Future” for this year’s International Women’s Daycelebrated every year on 08th March. This righteously calls for the acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of all women and girls to create that equality in society. But the deeper thought is- Do we really need to ask for equality or live it?
Startled! Well, you must be. You know why because each one of us is here to play our share of role. Despite of belonging to the same category, our roles may be different. So, equality only in action per se is incomplete if we look at it from gender perspective. Is it only about salary, position in an organization or how you are treated? Nope, it’s about YOU in totality which even includes how you choose to think, act and be present. Is it like all wrong doings are only from outside? Well, the more is inside us. How we talk to our self, treat our self and expect from our self.
To enforce equality, we got to challenge the wrongs around us, which needs to begin form within. Isn’t it? Absolutely, it is not a matter of just a Day… rather lifetime, a celebration of who you are and what you are… Celebrating your UNIQUE self but at the same time propagating equality to let others celebrate themselves. The day we’ll value our self and be our own superheroes, the stigma of being superior or perfectionist would melt down This would be dawn of new beginning where we as women would learn to love our self, respect our self, accept our self and appreciate our self the way we are to establish that mark of equality.
Well, one can just sum it as, “Don’t lose yourself, O Women! In giving to others. Choose to find yourself while serving others. For the flame continues to glow till candle knows itself and it’s worth.”
Ritika Dureja Bajaj, Writer and Mental cum Emotional Wellness Coach
Well, according to me being a woman is, was and will always be a privilege in itself. Not forgetting all the inequalities, we, women face, I still believe in it. As being a woman is like being a water, which has its own essence yet can choose to flow along. It like being a light who can illuminate the path of all. And in any role a woman plays, be it a daughter, mother, wife, sister, and what not, it is reflected that a woman has potential to illuminate the lives of all. However, at times we do unjust to our self when we forget who we truly are and start sabotaging our true self knowingly or unknowingly to seek validation. It’s high time we start respecting our self and accepting our self the way we are. Also, appreciating yourself for all that hard work that you do will gradually help you realize your self-worth, thus, aiding in identifying your true potential. So, feel proud of who you are and embrace your unique self-every day.
India is home to 18% of global human population and 15% of global livestock population but has only 2% land mass and 4% of global fresh water resources.
India receives (on an avg) 1170 mm rainfall but only 10-20% of that is presently utilized.
With an aim of effectively managing the rainwater and to recharge the groundwater, Ministry of Jal Shakti launched Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the year 2019 in 256 water stressed districts.
The results of JSA -1 witnessed an overwhelming response from the field formations. The team of Central Govt officers including Joint Secretaries and technical experts created awareness amongst the field officials and encouraged them to create capacities for water harvesting and conservation. As a result, interventions were made in 1,01,04,338 water conservation & rain water harvesting projects, 75,36,381 renovation of traditional & other water bodies, 74,85,025 Reuse and recharge structures, 96,96,381 watershed development. A total of 1,19,85,64,862 tree saplings were planted. JSA-1 witnessed huge public participation.
Encouraged by the response, the Ministry has now planned Jal Shakti Abhiyan -2 “Catch the rain where it falls when it falls” across the country including 734 districts,7195 blocks, 2.55 Lakh panchayat, 6.64 Lakh villages. The campaign shall witness mobilization of an unprecedented scale. Teams of central Govt officials shall visit each districts to sensitize and motivate them to undertake water harvesting and conservation measures.
To provide more traction to the Abhiyan, 1.74 Lakh village based youth clubs under Nehru Yuva Kendra shall be mobilized to spread awareness at grass root level. For this purpose, some financial assistance shall be provided at each district level. The Ministry is also working on fostering convergence between various other ministries of the Government like Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Defence, Surface transport, Civil aviation etc to achieve focused results in this direction. JSA -2 shall envisage geo tagging of all water bodies throughout the Nation. This shall form basis for assessment of the rejuvenation efforts for water bodies pan India.
